# Region Stats

The Region Stats endpoint returns summary statistics for each region, including ISO codes identifying the sovereign state and (when applicable) territory, total marine area and MPA coverage by Level of Fishing Protection (LFP), LFP-specific non-overlapping area totals (`lfp1_area` … `lfp5_area`), and versions for regions, site data, and stats.

This endpoint takes **no request parameters**.

## Response fields

| `iso_sov`                             | string  | ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code of the sovereign country the region ultimately belongs to.                           |
| `iso_ter`                             | string  | ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code of the territory, used only when the region is a subnational or dependent territory. |
| `name`                                | string  | Region name.                                                                                                 |
| `is_multi_jurisdictional`             | boolean | True if this region is itself a multi-jurisdictional area.                                                   |
| `includes_multi_jurisdictional_areas` | boolean | True if this region contains multi-jurisdictional areas.                                                     |
| `lfp1_area`                           | double  | Total non-overlapping LFP 1 area in region (sq. km).                                                         |
| `lfp2_area`                           | double  | Total non-overlapping LFP 2 area in region (sq. km).                                                         |
| `lfp3_area`                           | double  | Total non-overlapping LFP 3 area in region (sq. km).                                                         |
| `lfp4_area`                           | double  | Total non-overlapping LFP 4 area in region (sq. km).                                                         |
| `lfp5_area`                           | double  | Total non-overlapping LFP 5 area in region (sq. km).                                                         |
| `total_area`                          | double  | Total marine area of region (sq. km).                                                                        |
| `region_version`                      | integer | Current version of region (boundary).                                                                        |
| `navigator_major_version`             | integer | Major version of the Navigator site data for this region.                                                    |
| `region_stats_version`                | integer | Current stats version of region.                                                                             |
| `region_stats_version_start_date`     | date    | Start date of current region stats version.                                                                  |

## Error handling

### Server errors (`500`)

Database errors return a generic JSON error without exposing internal details.
